Khan Believes His Future Is At Welterweight

After trying to make his bones at middleweight, Amir Khan believes that his future lies at 147 pounds.

While Khan weighed in at 150 pounds against Phil Lo Greco, Khan is adamant that he’s better suited to fight at his natural weight of 147 pounds.

“This is the fight that will show I am a 147 fighter,” Khan told Sky Sports.

“I want to win a world title again. There are titles after this one, there are other big fighters out there, but we are taking it one step at a time.”

Samuel Vargas is the second opponent of Khan’s comeback since his 2016 knockout loss to Canelo Alvarez, and  the Bolton born boxer and his promoter Eddie Hearn look to set up a fight with Kell Brook in the near future.

“After [their next fights], we’ll be looking to get that fight signed. It’s the biggest fight out there, but both have options. But they will kick themselves forever unless they get it over the line, Hearn told Sky Sports.”
