Khan: Brook And I Are Not Ready To Battle

Amir Khan is interested in a fight with Kell Brook, but Khan believes the two of them need several victories in order to make their fight even bigger.

Brook is  currently recovering from a fractured orbital bone, sustained during his TKO defeat against Errol Spence in May. Khan was last seen in the ring following a knockout loss to Canelo Alvarez in May of 2016. Following the loss to Alvarez, Khan then underwent surgery for a longtime hand injury and has not fought since.

At a media event, Brook called out the fellow UK fighter.

“I want to get in there and beat Queen Khan up… We all want to see me stood over him, saying, ‘listen, I told you. I told you.’ We want to make that fight happen. We all want to see it. I want to smash him.”

In an interview with Sky Sports Khan stated his interest, but doesn’t think the time is right.

“For me and Kell Brook at the moment, I think the fight could be bigger if we both get a couple of wins… If we get a couple of wins, I think it will be a massive fight. It will be a big fight now, but it will be a massive fight if we wait maybe another fight. One hundred percent, I would love that fight.”

Khan at only the age of 30 feels very fresh, and wants to return to the ring before the end of the year, more than likely in December. If it’s possible, Khan wants his next fight to take place on UK soil.

“A lot has happened in my life, with personal issues and family drama and everything, with the hand operation,” said Khan. “I think it’s time now where I come back and I shine. I’m only 30 years old. People forget how old I am. I’m at the peak of my career now.”

“I can’t wait to get back into the ring and I want to fight December time. I think the next fight might have to be in the UK. My home is England and I’m a British fighter. I want to fight in front of my fans in the UK.”
