Khan Eyes Winner of Thurman/Garcia

Amir Khan has been the WBC’s mandatory challenger to Danny Garcia’s title for quite some time.  Khan sees no rush to take on Garcia, would rather wait to fight the winner of the proposed Keith Thurman-Danny Garcia bout.

Khan was quoted telling WBN that "Garcia would have been paid well if he fought me but I’m in a difficult situation because I’m chasing a fight and he’s already got a big fight lined up against Thurman.

"I can’t step in front of that because it’s a massive fight between Garcia and Thurman with two world titles on the line.”

This makes sense for Khan who is still healing from extensive hand surgery.  Amir has his sights set on a late 2017 bout with the winner of Thurman/Garcia which presents the possibility of two 147lb titles.  Rather than risk another injury to his already surgically repaired right hand, he can take all the time he needs to rehab and strengthen the hand for a meaningful fight with multiple title implications.  Good things come to those who wait.  Khan will be watching and waiting.
