Khan Unsure if Brook Wants to Fight Him

After returning to the ring after nearly 2 years and knocking out Phil Lo Greco, Amir Khan is gearing up for a September 8th bout with Samuel Vargas.

It will be the first time since 2014 that Khan competes in the ring more than one time a year. At the start of this year, Khan signed a deal with Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn, who also promotes Khan’s arch-rival, Kell Brook.

Brook himself is on a comeback trail, returning to the ring in March after back-to-back losses and knocking out Sergey Rabchenko. Brook’s next fight is on July 28 against Brandon Cook.

With wins by both Khan and Brook in their next respective fights, Hearn has expressed interest in pitting the two together in 2019.

Khan says he wants the fight, but he’s unsure if Brook feels the same.

“You know one thing though? [The fans] are going to get it,” Khan said. “Tell them that they are going to get that fight no matter what. But when I don’t know. Look, I’m telling you that I want that fight just as much as he wants it. But does he really want it or is he just a talker? Look, I want it honestly. I don’t shy away from any fight. I want the biggest fights, Kell is there and those fights are going to happen.”
