In his professional boxing debut in Tokyo, Japan, undefeated kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa beat Yuki Yonaha in a unanimous decision.
The last time that Nasukawa was in the ring in a boxing capacity was against none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr all the way back in 2018 during their exhibition.
It proved to be disastrous for the featherweight boxer who faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Mayweather on New Year’s Eve.
The fight was lopsided due to the huge weight difference between the two fighters. Mayweather was more than 20 pounds heavier and knocked down his opponent three times.
But this time around, Tenshin competed in the 122-pound weight class which made things all the more intriguing.
Tenshin landed numerous punches with his straight left, but it was a hit to the back of the head that caused Yonaha to fall.
Since Yonaha was already turning when Nasukawa’s punch hit him, the referee ruled it as a knockdown instead of an infringement.
Yonaha managed to land some successful right-handed punches, but even those moments left him vulnerable to left-hand counters.
When the fight went to the scorecards Tenshin walked away victorious: 59-55, 60-53, 60-53.
