Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu Combined!
Shoot Boxing is both a combat sport and also the name of a promotion in Japan.
The sport of Shoot Boxing, or Shootboxing, dates back to 1985 when former Japanese kickboxer Caesar Takeshi formed the organization AND the sport. It is a mixture of Shoot Wrestling and Kickboxing.
Shootboxing got international attention back in the golden days (2002 – 2008) of K-1 World MAX, when fighters like Australian Bruce “Preacher” Macfie, the Thai Buakaw Banchamek, Dutch Andy Souwer, Danish Ole Baguio Laursen fought under the Shootboxing banner.
Souwer of Holland went on to become a bit of a king of the S-Cup – the Shootboxing 8 man single elimination tournaments. He won it four times!
The next event takes place at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, and is organized and sanctioned by the Shoot Boxing Association and Commission respectively.
Doors open at 17:00 local time and the preliminary fights kicks off at 17.30.
