King: Bryan Is Ready For Anthony Joshua
While heavyweight boxers under the Don King banner may not carry the cache as they did in past decades, Trevor Bryan, the current interim WBA world heavyweight champion, is one of the six names on Eddie Hearn’s shortlist to face Anthony Joshua.
King made it clear in a recent interview that Bryan is ready for a shot at Joshua, and that he is waiting on a call back from Hearn.
“All I am hearing is a bunch of lies out there,” said King, who last saw a heavyweight title challenger in Bermane Stiverne, who was knocked out by WBC champion Anthony Joshua in 2017.
“They are saying I asked for $15 million for Bryan to fight Joshua. I haven’t asked for a dime. I haven’t talked to Eddie, but I’ve left multiple messages and he certainly has my number. I’m ready to talk to Hearn or Joshua and Bryan is ready to step in and make the fight.”
“Based upon my wonderful relationship with Eddie Hearn’s father Barry, I would be happy to help promote this great boxing extravaganza between Anthony Joshua and Trevor Bryan,” King said. “This would give boxing fans around the world a great championship fight which they richly deserve.”
