King Mo Set For Pro Wrestling Bout
Following his retirement at Bellator 233, “King Mo” Lawal already has plans post-MMA. The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion is set to make his Major League Wrestling debut tonight, November 9. The event, MLW: Blood & Thunder, will be taking place inside GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
“King Mo is a world class athlete,” said MLW’s Court Bauer in a press release. “we look forward to seeing King Mo bringing his talents to MLW. From the iconic walkouts to being an outspoken and important voice, there is only one King Mo and we’re honored to have him throwdown in MLW starting tonight.”
In the co-main event of Bellator 233, “King Mo” (21-10, 1NC) was dropped by a huge punch to the face in the first minute of his fight against Andrew Kapel. He ended his MMA career on a four-fight losing streak and is 2-6 in his last eight. During his walk to the cage, he wore and MLW shirt.
This is not the first time “King Mo” has been a part of the pro wrestling scene. He was originally offered a contract by WWE before transitioning to MMA. From 2012-215 (and one time in 2017) he had brief stints with Impact Wrestling, and also appeared at a House of Hardcore event.
Tickets are still available for the event. Bell time is at 4:00 p.m. ET with doors opening at 3:00 p.m. ET to the general public
