Klitschko Return Date An April Fools Prank

While the rumors of a $60 million deal from DAZN are very real, Wladimir Klitschko returning on May 25th in Kiev, are false.

According to a report on Monday from Ukrainian sports site Sports Arena, the former unified world heavyweight champion was set to return on May 25th at the Olympic Stadium in the capital of Kiev. On Tuesday, the website revealed it was a joke.

Explaining their story, Sport Arena stated: “The Ukrainian sports world was struck by the news about Wladimir Klitschko’s return to the ring,” not denying that a three-fight deal from DAZN is on the table. “The Ukrainian world champion allegedly had to fight at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv on May 25.”

“Perhaps, Wladimir will return to the ring. He is only thinking about that (right now). But the date and venue of the fight is just a joke from Sport Arena,” the site confirmed.

Wladimir’s brother, Vitali is currently the mayor of the city of Kiev.
