Klitschkos Critical of Fury, Fury Responds

Tyson Fury finally returns to a boxing ring on June 9, taking on Sefer Seferi. It will be Fury’s first boxing match since defeating Wladimir Klitschko in upset fashion to win the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring and lineal heavyweight titles.

Fury has been inactive since then, canceling a rematch with Klitschko twice in 2016, which includes Fury being deemed medically unfit and testing positive for cocaine, which Fury linked to a battle with depression. Fury vacated all but one of his titles (The Ring would strip him of its championship back in February). Now, he looks at this Seferi fight as his chance to start a road back to the top of the heavyweight division he once reigned.

In an interview with BT Sport, Wladimir Klitschko and his brother, fellow former heavyweight champion Vitali, were critical of Fury and praised current WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, who Fury has been critical of in the past.

Vitali Klitschko claims Fury is nothing more than a trash talker.

“Tyson Fury is the world champion of talking – trash talking! I wish him all the best but what he did [his failed drug test] was not good for boxing, in my personal opinion,” Vitali Klitschko said.

Wladimir Klitschko added that he “[believes] a full, complete, fighter is Anthony Joshua.”

He has been active, more active, and he’s got this talent of being strong and mobile. He [AJ] was born on April 29 in London of last year. Because he took punishment as well. He got up, he continued, he won the fight.

It didn’t take long though before their comments reached Fury, and Fury was more than willing to respond.

“Vitali, you say I’m the trash talking champion? Yes I am! And it worked against your brother!,” Fury said. “[Wladimir] keeps talking Anthony Joshua up because he gave him a 50/50. Talk me up, you couldn’t land a blow on me! Man up and tell the truth. Stop being a sore loser.”
