Kovalev Sued By Assault Accuser
Sergey Kovalev’s legal issues continue as the former world champion is being sued by the woman he was alleged to have assaulted in 2018.
Per a report from TMZ, Kovalev agreed to pay a $650,000 settlement to the alleged victim Jamie Frontz who claims Kovalev assaulted her following a party in Big Bear, California, where she suffered a concussion, an injured nose, a displaced disk in her back, and her dog was assaulted as well.
Frontz filed criminal charges and filed an $8 million civil suit, the latter she agreed to drop in exchange for a $650,000 settlement.
According to court documents, Kovalev was supposed to send an initial $250,000 in October of this year, prior to his loss to Canelo Alvarez, but failed to do so and is now suing for breach of contract that includes more than the initial $650,000 plus legal fees and punitive damages.
Kovalev is still awaiting trial for felony assault, where if found guilty he can face up to four years in prison.
