Kovalev Thrown Off Plane For Harassment

Over a year after he was alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman, WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev has been alleged to have made unwanted advances to a woman.

Initially reported by Mike Coppinger of The Athletic, Kovalev was thrown off of a plane on July 15th after a female passenger accused the world champion boxer of grabbing her hand, kissing her against her will, throwing money at her, and making her feel unsafe.

The incident occurred on a plane departing for Los Angeles from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Prior to take off Kovalev allegedly committed the above actions on the accuser, which caused the woman to cry and alert airline staff that she was “uncomfortable and not safe,” according to a report viewed by The Athletic, which was generated at the airport.

Airline officials alerted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, and Kovalev was removed from the plane by its captain.

As reported previously by FIGHT SPORTS, Kovalev has been sued by a woman claiming she was assaulted and injured by Kovalev after rejecting his sexual advances at a party in June 2018.
