Kovalev To Defend Title This August

Following his win in March against Igor Mikhalkin, Sergey Kovalev announced that he will be making his return to boxing on August 4th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kovalev will defend his WBO world light heavyweight title against Eleider Alvarez, who claims that he’s excited to take advantage at an opportunity for a world championship.

“I have a lot of respect for Sergey Kovalev. He’s a great champion but I like these kinds of fights, claimed Alvarez this week at a press conference in Atlantic City.

“I know it’s going to be a difficult fight but I know what I have. I know of my training and my preparation, and on next August 4th, I’m going to be the champion. Thank you very much.”

Kovalev, says that even though both men have a plan walking into Atlantic City on August 4th, he’s going to be in the best shape of his career.

E”I have a plan to defend my title. He has a plan to get a title and to be champion. It will be very big battle and we must be ready and be the best shape of our boxing career. Because in the future, happening huge fights, unification fights, I hope.”

Alvarez knows he’s walking into the fight as the underdog, but even though many boxing fans only know him from the boxing statistics website “BoxRec” He’s going to show on August 4th that “the WBO’s going to have our next champion, and it’s going to be Eleider Alvarez.”
