Kovalev-Ward II Likely for June
Former light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev has been hurling some harsh callouts in Andre Ward’s directions, poking at the man who stole his undefeated record until he accepts a rematch. It now appears that Kovalev will get what he wants, as the fight is close to a done deal for this summer.
A number of reports have pegged June 17 as the date for the light-heavyweight title fight rematch. Both sides began negotiating last month with that date in mind, after Kovalev’s promotor Kathy Duva claimed that Ward was initially ignoring their requests to talk.
Kovalev took to social media last night to offer an update on the rematch:

"Couple days ago I have signed [a] new memo for [the] rematch which was send [sic] to me by Roc Nation. Still waiting on Son of Judges to sign it."
Kovalev’s labeling of Ward as "son of judges" is another dig at the man who dethroned him as the king of the 175-lb. division. Many boxing fans and media members believed that Kovalev should have won the decision when he went the distance with Ward in November. In that fight, Kovalev dropped Ward in the second round and appeared to give him trouble for much of the fight. Ward’s late rally was enough, however, to sway the fight on the judges’ scorecards.
Whether or not Kovalev believes he already beat Ward, it looks like he will have his chance at redemption this June.
