Kownacki-Arreola Set for August 3rd At Barclays
Adam Kownacki is set for a return to Barclays Center on August 3rd, but not against the man initially rumored as his opponent.
Per Boxing Scene, Kownacki will headline a FOX doubleheader on August 3rd against Chris Arreola, while Marcus Browne will battle Jean Pascal in the evening’s co-main event.
The popular Polish puncher was originally rumored to face Robert Helenius, but PBC head Al Haymon decided on Arreola as the next man to face the popular Kownacki.
With a win Kownacki gets one step closer to a potential title match with WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, if Wilder is unable to get a rematch with Tyson Fury, a unification fight, or face WBC silver heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte.
Kownacki was last seen dropping Gerald Washington in the second round of their heavyweight clash on the Keith Thurman-Josesito Lopez undercard.
Arreola was last in the ring back in March, beating Jean Pierre Augustin on the Garcia-Spence undercard on March 16th in AT&T Stadium
