Kownacki May Face Former Title Challenger Next

Adam Kownacki’s return to the ring was announced last week, as the babyfaced Brooklyn boxer is set to return to Barclays Center.

Kownacki, who last stepped inside the ring for a unanimous decision win over Chris Arreola in 2018, returns to his adopted hometown on March 7th on FOX, and it may be against a former rival of current WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

Per a report from Boxing Scene, Dominic Breazeale is the current top opponent for Kownacki, in Breazeale’s first fight since his 2019 knockout loss to Deontay Wilder inside the same venue.

Breazeale suffered a first-round KO by Wilder, who had promised to level the challenger after a very public and vocal feud between the two leading into fight night. Prior to the loss to Wilder, Breazeale had only one professional loss to current unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

If PBC does not put pen to paper on a Breazeale-Kownacki clash, heavyweight contender Christian Hammer is waiting in the wings to headline the Brooklyn venue.
