Kyoji Horiguchi Will Fight For Bellator Bantamweight Title Vs. Sergio Pettis
Kyoji Horiguchi is returning to Bellator.
Dubbed as one of the best bantamweights in mixed martial arts history, Horiguchi will fight for the title on December 3 against current champion Sergio Pettis.
“It’s always a special event when you have a champion versus champion fight,” said Bellator President Scott Coker in a press release.
“I’m excited to have Sergio Pettis and Kyoji Horiguchi competing for the Bellator world championship on December 3.”
Horiguchi was busy reigning his title in Rizin FF.
Kai Asakura dethroned him at Rizin 18, but a year later, Horiguchi avenged and took his title back at Rizin 26 when he earned another first-round KO victory.
And, before fighting in Rizin, he was a UFC fighter.
In one of the best promotions, he fought eight times and suffered only one loss against another legendary fighter, Demetrious Johnson, via late fifth round arm-bar, when only one second was left before the bell.
Even having such an experience earning victories in three different promotions, he is only 31 years old.
After leaving the UFC, Pettis earned three victories and remained the bantamweight champion.
