Lara-Alvarez, Quillin-Truax 2 on Aug. 31

Erislandy Lara will return to the ring on August 31 against Ramon Alvarez, headlining a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card that will also feature an IBF Super Middleweight Title eliminator rematch.

Lara will be looking to get back to winning ways once again after losing a WBA/IBF super welterweight title unification match to Jarrett Hurd in April 2018 and battling Brian Castano to a draw in March. Alvarez saw a three-fight win streak snapped against Brandon Rios in November before rebounding with a win against Jose Paz in April.

The co-main event will see Peter Quillin and Caleb Truax once again battling for a shot at IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant. Their original fight two months ago was ruled a No Contest after two rounds of action. Truax was busted open by an accidental headbutt and was not allowed to continue.

Prior to the No Contest, Quillin had won three of his last four and won both fights he had since returning from a December 2015 first-round TKO at the hands of then-WBA (Regular) Middleweight Champion Daniel Jacobs.

Truax is a former IBF champion, upsetting James DeGale via majority decision in December 2017 before dropping the title back to him in an April 2018 rematch.
