Lara vs. Castano Live Results

After losing his WBA (Super) and IBO super welterweight in a title unification bout with IBF champion Jarrett Hurd last year, Erislandy Lara is looking to rebound and regain some gold in the 154-pound division.

Lara will challenge WBA (Regular) super welterweight champion Brian Castano in the main event of a card from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Prior to the loss to Hurd, Lara was on a six-fight win streak that stretched back to December 2014. Lara originally won the interim WBA (Regular) light middleweight championship in June 2013 against Alfredo Angulo. Lara retained the title against Austin Trout before being promoted to full-time champion and defending against Ishe Smith, Delvin Rodriguez, Jan Zaveck and Vanes Martirosyan. He was then promoted to WBA (Super) champion after winning the IBO title in the fight with Rodriguez. Lara was successful in two more defenses — against Yuri Foreman and Terrell Gausha.

The undefeated Castano won the interim WBA super welterweight championship with a knockout of Emmanuel de Jesus back in November 2016. He retained the interim belt against Michel Soro before being promoted to regular champion and retaining against Cedric Vitu in his most recent bout, almost exactly one year ago.

On the undercard, former heavyweight title challenger Luis Ortiz takes on Christian Hammer and Bryan de Garcia faces Eduardo Ramirez in featherweight action.
