Lauren Price Eyes Jonas and Ryan Clash After McCaskill Bout

Lauren Price wants a domestic clash against Natasha Jonas and Sandy Ryan if she gets past Jessica McCaskill.

Price boxes McCaskill on May 11 for the WBA, IBO, and Ring Magazine Welterweight Belts. It is Price’s first world title fight. She is undefeated, with a 6-0 record. She will box in her hometown of Cardiff, Wales. Her pedigree is well known, having won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

McCaskill enters the bout with a split-decision draw against Sandy Ryan. Her record stands at 12-3-1. However, two of her defeats were against the former Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor, a two-weight undisputed champion at 135 and 140. Price was looking ahead to bigger fights by winning against McCaskill.

“I think this fight will kind of open up me creating a legacy with me boxing in Wales in a good fight. You know I want to go on from there and I think this fight is an exciting fight for the fans as well. I’m fighting against somebody who’s been a legitimate champion, and I believe I win the fight and then on from there, I just keep progressing to bigger and bigger fights,” Price said

Price’s trainer, Joe Gallagher, said Jonas was interested in facing his fighter before she took the McCaskill fight. Jonas won a controversial split decision against Mikaela Mayer in her last bought to retain her IBF Welterweight Title. Jonas is looking to secure the big fights before she retires, as she is in the latter part of her career. Price wants the Liverpudlian after McCaskill. If that fight can’t be made, a fight with the WBO Welterweight Champion Ryan is also possible.

“100 per cent ( I would fight Jonas next)… You know, Sandy and I, we were obviously friends on Team GB, we come through GB together and I’ve got respect for her and and stuff like that. At the end of the day, you know boxing is boxing and it’s a great fight definitely, and something that I’m 100 per cent open to. I’ve said anybody 147 with the world title, I’d happily fight. And I’m sure that fight will happen in the future,” Price added
