Leigh Wood Beats Mauricio Lara To Reclaim His WBA Title

British boxing sensation Leigh Wood achieved a unanimous-decision win over Mauricio Lara.

Wood’s redemption story unfolded as he avenged his earlier defeat in which he suffered a seventh-round knockout.

The rematch took place amidst heightened anticipation, as Lara faced an unexpected setback as he lost his title on the scales after exceeding the weight limit by over 3 pounds.

As the fight unfolded, Wood showcased his superior boxing skills, outperforming Lara at every turn. From the opening bell, Wood established control, consistently outworking and outboxing his opponent.

The defining moment came in the second round when Wood unleashed a powerful right uppercut, sending Lara to the canvas.

Although the knockdown had minimal impact on the final score, it symbolized Wood’s dominance throughout the bout. Accurate punch statistics from CompuBox further solidified Wood’s triumph.

The Nottingham fighter outlanded Lara in each of the 12 rounds, leaving no doubt about his superiority in the ring.

While Lara occasionally landed clean shots, they were few and far between, unable to match the relentless pace and precision displayed by Wood.

Wood’s dominance was reflected in the official scores, with judges delivering a unanimous verdict: 118-109, 118-109, and 116-111.
