Lemieux-Stevens set for March 11
In what promises to be an all-out action slugfest, David Lemieux (36-3, 32 KOs) will take on Curtis Stevens (29-5) on March 11 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be contested for Lemieux’s NABO middleweight title.
Golden Boy Promotions announced the fight on Monday.
Lemieux has won back to back fights in impressive fashion, beating the durable Cristian Fabian Rios by unanimous decision and knocking out Glen Tapia.
Stevens last defeated James de la Rosa by unanimous decision, following up nicely on a May knockout over then-undefeated Patrick Teixeira.
A fight between Lemieux and Stevens has been anticipated for a long time given the entertaining and always-aggressive style that the two bring into the ring.
The two have shared a war of words since the hype began surrounding a potential fight, and now will look to settle their dislike for each other when they go toe-to-toe in New York.
“The time for talking is done,” Lemieux said, “and after many long months of hearing Curtis yell about all the things he’s going to do in the ring, I’m really looking forward to shutting his mouth on March 11. I’ve told everyone my goal is to once again become middleweight champion of the world. Curtis is in the way, and I’m going to go right through him.
“The wait is finally over!” Stevens said. “No more talking. My hands will do the talking on March 11.”
