Leon Edwards Expects Entertaining Fight Against Nate Diaz At UFC 262

Leon Edwards is anticipating an entertaining fight against Nate Diaz.

Fight fans were surprised when it was revealed that Edwards and Diaz will be competing at UFC 262. Diaz hasn’t fought since November 2019 and many believed he’d take a more lucrative fight for his return. Instead, he’ll meet one of the best welterweights in the world on May 15.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Edwards said that while he feels Diaz will have his hands full, he believes fans will be satisfied with the matchup.

“I know it’s gonna be hard work for him to come against a natural welterweight, one that can switch southpaw, orthodox, fight [from] both stances, got great wrestling, great jiu-jitsu. I like his mental attitude to the game, I like the way he thinks of it. It’s gonna be an entertaining fight.”

Edwards and Diaz are set to make history if they share the Octagon as planned. This will be the first co-main event non-title fight scheduled for five rounds.

Edwards is hoping to make a statement after his last outing against Belal Muhammad ended in a No Contest. As mentioned, Diaz hasn’t fought in over a year and that bout ended in a loss to Jorge Masvidal.
