Lewis Struggles But Gets a 4th Round TKO
It was not a good fight for Derrick Lewis, that much is certain.
Lewis was dominated for three straight rounds, but still managed to get the win via TKO over Shamil Abdurakhimov with less than a minute and a half to go in the fourth round.
Lewis was taken down multiple times throughout the fight, as Abdurakhimov took advantage of Lewis’ constant attempts at landing a kick. Lewis was also not as aggressive as normal. But, knowing he needed to finish the fight in order to get the win, he came out with strategy in the fourth. Lewis managed to get his opponent down against the cage and unleashed a ground-and-pound attack until he got the TKO.
"I didn’t like my performance at all," Lewis admitted after the fight. "That was some [expletive]."
Lewis, who came in ranked No. 10 among UFC heavyweights, has now won five fights in a row.
