Liam Smith Vs. Chris Eubank Jr. Postponed, Smith Suffers Injury
Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr.’s rematch on June 17th, 2023, has been delayed due to the former sustaining an injury.
There were many question marks over the nature of the first bout. The comprehensive manner in which Smith dispatched Eubank Jr. with a fourth-round TKO saw scrutiny on the latter’s durability.
This was particularly since Eubank Jr. had been trying to make 157 lbs for his fight with Conor Benn before that was called off due to his two failed drug tests for Clomiphene.
Liam Smith suffered an injury while training and his June 17 rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. has been postponed, sources tell ESPN. The middleweight fight is expected to only be delayed a couple of weeks. Smith scored an upset TKO-4 victory when they met in January.

However, all is not lost. Mike Coppinger of ESPN shared that Smith got injured during training to the extent that the fight will only be postponed for a few weeks with a new date set for July 1st, 2023.
Smith has yet to discuss the nature of the injury, but did manage to state that he was ‘slightly injured.’
Regardless of the time frame in question, the social media response was one sided with many seeing Smith coming out on top with another victory.
