Lightweight, Catchweight Fights Set For Bellator 243
With just a week+ until Bellator hosts another event in Bellator 243, the promotion has added a few more bouts to the card.
Combate was the first to report that Myles Jury will face off against Georgi Karakhanyan in a lightweight bout. A catchweight bout featuring Derek Campos v. Adam Borics has also been added. MMA Junkie would later confirm the bouts with Bellator officials.
Jury (18-5) made a name for himself with King of the Cage before appearing on The Ultimate Fighter in 2012. He ended up 9-5 with the UFC before signing a multi-fight deal with Bellator. He lost to former UFC Lightweight Champion in Benson Henderson in his debut bout before rebounding this February with a win over Brandon Girtz at Bellator 239.
Karakhanyan (29-10-1, 1 NC) has fought for Bellator since 2010. The former WSOF Featherweight Champion is 2-2 in his last five bouts with one no-contest. He last fought in February at Bellator 240, beating Paul Redmond via guillotine choke.
A former King of the Cage Light-Welterweight Champion, Campos (20-10) has been with Bellator since 2012. After years within the light-welterweight and lightweight divisions, Campos made his featherweight debut in 2018. He beat Daniel Straus in the opening round of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix before losing to A.J. McKee at Bellator 236 in December in the quarterfinals.
The 27-year-old Borics (14-1) lost to Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 238 in the Featherweight Grand Prix. It ended a winning streak dating back to 2014.
Bellator 243 takes place on August 7 from inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The main event will be a rematch between Benson Henderson and Michael Chandler. The co-main event will reportedly be Matt Mitrione v. Timothy Johnson.
