Lightweight/Light Heavy PFL Playoffs Set

On Monday the Professional Fighters League announced that the light heavyweight and lightweight playoff finalists will be found at PFL 9 on October 13th.

The tournaments will take place at the Long Beach Arena, where the final two in each division will move on to face off at the PFL season finale on December 31st, with $1 Million on the line.

Like the regular season fights, the card will be split between Facebook and NBCSN, the latter portion featuring the first round fights of light heavyweight #1 seed Vinny Magalhaes.

The PFL brackets were set by a points system, with a win yielding three points, additional points for finishing the fight (3 points for the first round, 2 points for the second, 1 for the third).

The announced PFL 9 card is as follows (seeding in parentheses, bout order to be determined):

Light Heavyweight

Vinny Magalhaes (1) vs. Rakim Cleveland (8)

Bozigit Ataev (4) vs. Emiliano Sordi (5)

Dan Spohn (3) vs. Sean O’Connell (6)

Maxim Grishin (2) vs. Smealinho Rama (7)

Alternate bout – Brandon Halsey vs. Ronny Markes


Natan Schulte (1) vs. Johnny Case (8)

Chris Wade (4) vs. Robert Watley (5)

Islam Mamedov (3) vs. Thiago Tavares (6)

Will Brooks (2) vs. Rashid Magomedov (7)

Alternate bout – Ramsey Nijem vs. Yuki Kawana

The semi-finals will be set with the winner of the 1st and 8th seed fight take on the winner of the 4th and 5th seed, where the winner of the 2nd and 7th seed will take on the winner of the 3rd and 6th seed.
