Lightweight Title Fight, Grudge Match Top GLORY 69

After pulling off a big upset and dethroning Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong earlier this year, Marat Grigorian will make his first defense of the GLORY lightweight championship against Tyjani Beztati in the main event of GLORY 69.

GLORY 69 will take place on October 12 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Grigorian won the belt by defeating Sittichai by decision at GLORY 65 in May, ending the three-year-long reign and handing Sittichai his first loss since 2016. It was the third time they had met, as Grigorian unsuccessfully challenged him for the strap at GLORY 36 in December 2016 and GLORY 57 in August 2018, dropping two split decisions.

Since his own unsuccessful challenge of Sitthichai at GLORY 53 in May 2018, Beztati has won three straight, last defeating Josh Janucey at GLORY 65. With a win, the 21-year-old Beztati will become the youngest champion in GLORY history.

The co-main event of GLORY 69 will see a grudge match between two German heavyweight rivals — Michael Smolik and Mohamed Abdallah.
