Linares-Crolla Set for March Rematch
After an entertaining first bout, WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares and Anthony Crolla will rematch on March 25. Linares will be behind enemy lines again as the fight will take place in Crolla’s hometown of Manchester, England.
The challenger had a rematch clause in his contract, so the fight being made is no surprise.
Back in September, Linares (41-3, 27 KOs) headed to Manchester and beat Crolla (31-5-3, 13 KOs) in a back-and-forth but clear unanimous decision victory.
Promoter Eddie Hearn praised the fight and said that fans can expect fireworks in the rematch.
"The last fight was a fight of the year contender and Linares boxed out of his skin," Hearn said. "but one thing we know about Anthony is his ability to bounce back, and he is so determined to win this fight. He has created some wonderful atmospheres at the Manchester Arena over the last few years and I believe March 25 will be the best yet."
Linares has not lost since 2012, when he suffered his second straight TKO loss. The only criticism on Linares’s game is his ability to take a punch, as all of his three losses have come via stoppage.
