Juliana Velasquez will get another shot at regaining the Bellator flyweight title.
Velasquez and Liz Carmouche will meet in a rematch in the co-main event of Bellator 289 on December 9, MMA Fighting reported.
Just five months ago, Velasquez headed into her bout with Carmouche to defend her belt for the second time.
Velasquez was ahead in the scorecards until referee Mike Beltran stopped the bout with 13 seconds left in the fourth round. Beltran declared a technical knockout victory for Carmouche due to elbows from crucifix position.
Velasquez protested the stoppage and appealed to the Hawaiian commission, but it was denied. The Brazilian fighter had won the Bellator flyweight title back at Bellator 254 when she dethroned then-champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. She then defended her new crown again Denise Kielholtz and won it via split decision.
With the April win, Carmouche became 4-0 in Bellator. Velasquez was on a seven-fight winning streak before the loss.
Bellator 289, which will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, will also feature the Bantamweight Grand Prix Semifinals with Danny Sabatello vs Raufeon Stots and Magomed Magomedov vs Patchy Mix.
