On Tuesday, the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship held an open workout featuring former UFC fighter and competitor at this weekend’s BKFC 5, Artem Lobov. Also in attendance at the Mendez Boxing gym in Manhattan is former world champion boxer and latest BKFC signee, Paulie Malignaggi.
Lobov and Malignaggi have no love for one another due to Lobov being a close friend and training partner of Conor McGregor, who had Malignaggi as a sparring partner prior to his 2017 fight with Floyd Mayweather. McGregor would release photos and video of Malignaggi hitting the canvas from a punch by McGregor, which the Brooklyn born boxer claimed to be taken out of context.
Putting both of these fighters in the same city, let alone within the confines of a cramped boxing gym was a recipe for disaster, and while Lobov was preparing for a fight with former UFC fighter Jason Knight, he’d end up throwing hands with Malignaggi.

The scuffle would be subsided by former UFC fighter and current head of BKFC Fighter Relations, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, but in an homage to the WWE, both men seem to set the seeds for a bare knuckle fight some time in 2019, possibly for Malignaggi’s debut in June.
“You’re a b****!” Malignaggi ranted after BKFC officials, most notably Anthony Johnson, separated them. “Next time it’s a harder slap! That was a b**** slap for a b****!
“Don’t get in my face and make threats here! I got in your face to promote! Don’t get in my face and make threats here, because I’ll f*** you up here!”
Malignaggi’s tirade would continue, even threatening to kill Lobov within the gym’s walls.
