Loeffler Sees Sor Rungvisai & Estrada Rematch In Fall
Following a close fight that both men believe they won, it seems that Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada may be set for a rematch for the WBC super flyweight championship.
Per a report from Boxing Scene, following February 24th’s battle at the Forum, promoter Tom Loeffler claims that the two men warranted a rematch.
“I thought this performance warranted a rematch,” Loeffler said. “If there’s a way we could make a rematch for the fall, it would be tremendous to bring it back to the Forum.”
Sor Rungvisai barely was able to defeat Estrada, with narrow scores of 117-111 and 115-113, and one judge splitting it at 114-114.
Loeffler spoke with HBO following the fight, and it seems that the network would be ready to work on a “Superfly 3.”
“I’ve already talked to HBO and they are interested in something in the fall,” said Loeffler. “This fight would headline ‘Superfly 3.'”
