Loeffler Wants Klitschko To Return Against Wilder
Even though he’s not fought since 2017, former world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, is the most sought after free agent in the heavyweight division.
Klitschko has been reportedly linked to both DAZN and allegedly Showtime for multi-fight deals that would see him back in the heavyweight title picture.
Tom Loeffler, who helped manager Klitschko’s career, told Sirius-XM Boxing that if the former world champion returned to action, he’d want it to be against former sparring partner Deontay Wilder.
“He had such a good championship run, that a lot of people want to see him back in the ring,” Loeffler told Sirius XM Boxing. “A company is offering him a lot of money to come back. He’s one of those brands that fans want to see him come back. I’d like to see him come back.
“It will be his decision. If it makes sense, and he’s been posting videos and photos showing the bug is still somewhere in the back of his head. He came so close when he knocked down Anthony Joshua [but] my personal opinion is I’d like to see him and Deontay Wilder .
“Wladimir had such a great championship run and [coach] Emanuel Steward brought in the best sparring partners. He brought both Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in as a sparring partners and now they are both champions. But I think it would be fireworks as Deontay has big punching power. That would be a tremendous fight. But that’s just my personal opinion. I’ll make that clear as I don’t want to get in trouble with him.”
