Logan Paul Reacts To Floyd Mayweather Bout Being Postponed
YouTube star Logan Paul has given his response to the postponement of the Floyd Mayweather fight.
Paul and Mayweather were initially scheduled to collide on February 20. The bout was set to be an exhibition bout airing live on pay-per-view through Fanmio. While the matchup hasn’t been canceled, it will not be taking place on the original date.
During an edition of his IMPAULSIVE podcast, Paul discussed the postponement of his matchup with Mayweather (via BoxingScene.com).
“The Mayweather fight is pushed [back] which I am completely OK with. The fight’s still happening [but] we want to have a packed arena somewhere and then the business side of things, we have to iron them out,” Paul said.
“[Mayweather’s] got a lot of people on his team, [his adviser] Al Haymon got involved, if you know boxing, you know what that means for getting an actual deal done and figuring out a venue. I need as much practice, training, sparring under my belt against this guy. With every day that goes past I get better and he gets older.”
Fanmio also issued a brief statement confirming the bout’s postponement.
“After an absolutely tremendous response to the fight announcement, we’re hoping to announce a new date very soon along with some new exciting details.”
There is a significant experience differential between Paul and Mayweather. Paul is 0-1 as a pro boxer, with the one defeat coming against fellow YouTuber KSI. Mayweather ended his career with a perfect record of 50-0. On top of that, Mayweather won world titles in multiple weight classes.
