Loma-Linares Averages 1 Million Viewers

Even though Vasyl Lomachenko’s fight against Jorge Linares was considered to be the more competitive fight, it did not meet the numbers his fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux drew in December.

Per numbers released by Nielsen Media Research, ESPN’s broadcast of Lomachenko’s 10th round TKO over Linares drew an average audience of 1,439,000 viewers,  as of Tuesday there was no peak viewership numbers.

Lomachenko’s devastating stoppage win over Rigondeaux on December 9th, drew a higher average viewer (1,730,000), but the Linares fight met more competition which included the NHL playoffs, UFC 224, Bellator 199, and Sadam Ali’s loss to Jaime Munguia.

Even with that competition, the average rating was higher than all but one fight offered by Top Rank in 2018, which was Oscar Valdez’s victory over Scott Quigg in a WBO featherweight championship match March 10th, which was seen by an average audience of 1,100,000.
