Lomachenko And Kambosos Face-Off In Their First Presser

Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. held their kick-off presser for their May 12 fight in Perth, Australia, for the vacant IBF Lightweight Title.

Lomachenko is the massive favorite as the three-division champion seeks to bounce back from his defeat to Devin Haney. The Ukrainian lost a unanimous decision, ending his hopes of becoming undisputed at 135. The consensus amongst the boxing community was that Lomachenko had been deprived of a win. Shakur Stevenson labelled it a robbery, as Loma took the rest of 2023 off, turning down the chance to fight Shakur for the vacant WBC Lightweight Belt.

Kambosos is also not in the best form. Since beating Teofimo Lopez to become the Unified Lightweight Champion, he has only had one win in his last three fights. Two consecutive losses to Haney followed, while his majority decision victory over Maxi Hughes was contentious. Lomachenko was not present in person, but spoke to the media via a video link. Both fighters have the chance to become world champions again. Here were the best bits from the presser.
