Lomachenko Offered Immediate World Title Shot
Following reports that Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) is planning on making his ring return in November, WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster (25-3, 12 KOs) has offered the former 3-divsion world champ an immediate title shot.
Lomachenko last fought in May 2024, stopping George Kambosos Jr. in the 11th round to win the IBF lightweight title. He subsequently announce his retirement, but following his deal with Top Rank ending, his manager revealed Loma intends to make a comeback.
The 38-year-old previously held the WBO title at 130 pounds from 2016 to 2018 and is targeting a return at that weight.
Foster has a world title unification fight scheduled against WBO and IBF champion Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) on October 24 in San Antonio. Any title defense against Lomachenko would therefore depend on the outcome of that bout.
“I would give him the opportunity,” Foster said regarding a Lomachenko fight. “I can be the first one he comes to see. I’ll send him back to where he needs to be … I got the title, and I’ll put it up. We can make it happen.”
Lomachenko previously held the WBO super featherweight title from 2016 to 2018 before moving up to lightweight. His return to 130 pounds would put him back in a division where he made four successful title defenses.
Foster, meanwhile, last fought in May, beating Raymond Ford by decision. He has held the WBC title since regaining it from Robson Conceição in November 2024.
No agreement for a Foster-Lomachenko fight has been announced.
