Lomachenko Reportedly Coming Out of Retirement

Three-division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12KOs) has reportedly decided to come out of retirement on the same day his contract with Top Rank expired, as sources say he is eyeing a return this fall as a free agent, but not in a tune-up bout as the 38-year-old is said to only be targeting marquee fights.

Lomachenko retired in June 2025 at the age of 37, having last fought in May 2024 when he stopped George Kambosos to claim the IBF lightweight title. The Ukrainian retired after winning WBO titles at featherweight and super-featherweight, and a run as unified lightweight champion.

Two losses at 135lbs clouded that period — a defeat to Teofimo Lopez in October 2020 and a controversial loss to Devin Haney in May 2023. A chronic back injury allegedly derailed talks with Gervonta Davis, with the two sides unable to finalize a deal ahead of his retirement. With that injury now seemingly behind him in addition to his contract with Top Rank finished, Loma appears to be ready to make a comeback in big fights.
