Lomachenko Reportedly Set For Comeback Before Years’ End

Former three-division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) is reportedly targeting a November return to boxing at super featherweight, ending more than two years of inactivity.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian recently said he intends to compete at 130 pounds, a division in which he previously held the WBO world title from 2016 to 2018. An opponent, date and venue have yet to be announced.

Lomachenko last fought in May 2024, stopping George Kambosos Jr. in the 11th round to claim the IBF lightweight championship. He subsequently retired, having also won world titles at featherweight and super featherweight.

A two-time Olympic gold medalist, Lomachenko could pursue another championship opportunity if his comeback proceeds as planned.

WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster has expressed interest in facing him. Foster is scheduled to meet Emanuel Navarrete in a unification fight on October 24, potentially establishing a future opponent for Lomachenko. However, no agreement for such a matchup has been announced.

Lomachenko’s promotional agreement with Top Rank expired earlier this year, leaving him free to consider opportunities with other promoters as he prepares for his return.
