Lomachenko’s Possible Comeback Opponent

With Vasiliy Lomachenko’s (18-3, 12 KOs) return to boxing confirmed by manager Egis Klimas, the conversation around potential opponents has opened up quickly, with Shakur Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) being a possible target.

Loma retired after stopping George Kambosos in May 2024 to win the vacant IBF lightweight title. However, his return comes following the expiry of his Top Rank contract, with the condition that he only wants the big fights. Shakur Stevenson has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling options if Lomachenko moves up to 140 pounds.

The current WBO super lightweight champion has previously expressed a desire to fight Lomachenko, and the matchup would hand the Ukrainian an immediate shot at becoming a four-weight world champion, giving his comeback an immediate and meaningful target beyond simply returning for the sake of it. With Stevenson having previously called for the fight publicly and the title on the line, it ticks every box Lomachenko is looking for.
