Look Out For These Fights At UFC 272
This time, the headlining fight won’t be a title bout. Jorge Masvidal (35-15-0, 12-8 in the UFC) will fight against Colby Covington (16-3-0, 11-3 in the UFC).
Masvidal and Covington were close friends in American Top Team.
While competing in ATT, Covington won the interim welterweight title, but after that, he left the gym, and he and his close friend slowly became enemies.
They know each other very well because the striker (Masvidal) and wrestler (Covington), were helping each other to improve.
Covington is opening this bout as a serious favorite, but Masvidal can bring the fireworks anytime inside the octagon.
One of the most interesting fights on the card is between Edson Barboza and Bryce Mitchell, who will fight in a featherweight matchup.
Barbosa has 22 professional victories and 10 losses. In his latest fight, he suffered a TKO victory against Giga Chikadze.
Mitchell is undefeated young blood with the massive ground game. Nine out of 14 victories he earned via submissions, and the rest of it via decisions. In the UFC, he earned five victories, and four of them are via decisions.
Another undefeated fighter, Umar Nurmagomedov, will be fighting against experienced Brian Kelleher.
Nurmagomedov earned 13 victories in his career and never suffered defeat. In the UFC, he earned only one victory against Sergey Morozov.
Kelleher is very experienced. He earned eight victories in the UFC and suffered five defeats. He suffered six out of 12 losses via submissions, and it might be Kelleher’s kryptonite against a fighter like Nurmagomedov, who has massive ground game.
