Lopez Looking To Expose Garcia, Haney

When it comes to future fights in the lightweight division, Teofimo Lopez does not want to play around.

The current IBF Lightweight Champion spoke with Fight Hub about future fights that could end up happening. Lopez (15-0) was supposed to face off against Vasiliy Lomachenko in March, but due to travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus, the latter is in Ukraine. Now, Lopez is trying to find an opponent he can match with.

Some fighters want warmup bouts before returning, but Lopez is ready to return right away.

“We don’t need no tuneup fight. If only you guys knew how it is to negotiate and not difficult, it is to make these fights happen,” said Lopez, via Boxing News 24. “Me, my father and my manager, if we can’t make this Loma fight happen, then let’s make this Devin Haney fight happen. We reached out to Eddie Hearn. We haven’t got a response back.

Haney (24), the current WBC Lightweight Champion, has had his eye on a clash with Ryan Garcia, the WBC Siler Lightweight Champion. The two have been exchanging barbs on social media, something Lopez doesn’t think is real.

“These guys say they want the smoke, but they don’t. They’re talking out of their a**,” Lopez went on to say. “If they talk about it, they should be about it. I understand, and you guys back them up for no f***ing reason. A b**ch [Teofimo holding up a photo of Haney]. A b*tch [Lopez holds up a picture of Ryan Garcia]. They’re all b**ches. They say you’re the best like you say you are. Prove it.”

Lopez made his professional debut in 2016. He fought four times in 2019, winning all four. His last bout was a TKO-win over Richard Commey back in December. Inside Madison Square Garden, Lopez won the IBF belt in the second round.

Haney has since responded to Lopez, stating that he has been ducking Haney.
