Luis Nery Reportedly Splits From Trainer Eddy Reynoso
Undefeated WBC Super-Bantamweight Champion Luis Nery appears to be done with Eddy Reynoso.
ESPN Deportes is reporting that Nery is in search of a new trainer after parting ways with Reynoso. While the news may come as a surprise to some, there were apparently rumors swirling on the future of Nery and Reynoso working together. There is no word on why Nery will no longer have Reynoso in his corner.
Reynoso has built quite a resume for himself. He has been training the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Ryan Garcia, and Oscar Valdez. Nery was a part of that impressive list but that will no longer be the case.
Nery last competed back in September 2020. He defeated Aaron Alameda via unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC Super-Bantamweight Championship. The victory improved Nery’s perfect pro boxing record to 31-0.
Nery’s next move isn’t clear. Many fight fans are clamoring for a big showdown between Nery and Naoya Inoue. Inoue holds the WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring Bantamweight Titles. In his last outing back in October 2020, Inoue knocked out Jason Moloney in the seventh round to retain his gold.
