Luis Ortiz Injured, Rossy Fight Cancelled
In unfortunate news for one of the top names in boxing’s heavyweight division, Luis Ortiz has reportedly been injured and is off of the April 22 Shawn Porter vs. Andre Berto card.
Ortiz was set to face veteran Derric Rossy in a featured spot on the card. ESPN’s Dan Rafael confirmed earlier rumors that Ortiz has injured his hand and has been forced to pull out of the fight:
Heavyweight Luis Ortiz injured his hand this week and is off next week’s @ShowtimeBoxing card, per @loudibella. #boxing #PorterBerto

Ortiz (27-0) has been one of the most intimidating forces in the heavyweight division, but pulling out of this fight will deal a massive blow to his momentum in 2017. "King Kong" was expected to make short work of Rossy on the high-profile card, further cementing his claim to take on the likes of Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder later in the year or early in 2018.
At 38 years old, Ortiz will hopefully recover from the injury soon enough to fight later this year.
