Luke Rockhold Livid With Paulo Costa, Bout Moved To UFC 278
Luke Rockhold has to wait an extra 20 days for his long-anticipated return to the octagon as he will no longer be fighting at UFC 277 on July 30.
Rockhold (16-5) last made an appearance in the octagon back in July 2019 at UFC 239 where he was finished by the former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz in the second round. It was his third knockout loss in as many four fights as the California native was previously thrashed by Yoel Romero and his bitter rival Michael Bisping inside the rounds.
After the layoff of almost three years, Rockhold was set to make his comeback in the octagon against the former No.1 lightweight contender, Paulo Costa at UFC 277 but as the things stand, the 37-year-old will have to see out an additional half month before he can get his hands on the Brazilian.
The news came just hours after Rockhold did an interview with Submission Radio. The Californian knew what was coming his way so he let out all his frustration by ripping the ‘‘Borrachina’ for trying to delay their fight in the interview.
“He’s trying to delay the fight again to August 20. This guy is … something’s going on behind the scenes,” Rockhold said about Costa on Submission Radio. “I don’t know what you’re doing over there, Caitlin… The contract was signed, and now he’s trying to move it again, making room for all these detailed things that he’s working on. Maybe a new booty?…”
Costa (13-2) hasn’t had a great time lately as he is on a two-fight losing streak in the octagon. And things don’t look great for him now either as he requested UFC for another delay in his scheduled fight, the reasons for which are yet to be disclosed.
“I think he’s on his second or third, and then they want to go to August 20. That’s all I’m hearing right now,” Rockhold continued.
The news of Rockhold vs Costa was announced by the MMA reporter, The Schmo.
