Lupita Godinez Sets Record Number Of Turnarounds In UFC

Lupita “Loopy” Godinez fought three times in the UFC just under 43 days.

In her record-breaking appearance Saturday, she defeated Muay Thai fighter Loma Lookboonmee via unanimous decision. Godinez earned all three rounds on all the judges’ scorecards.

Now her record is 7-2 in the MMA and 2-2 in the UFC.

“I had a little bit of a hard time in the first round. I was mostly feeling her out and stuff. Second round and third round I saw more openings and I got a little more used to her movements. That’s pretty much what I saw.”

Godinez credited her opponent for being a multiple-time world champion in Muay Thai and said she had to take her time.

As for her new record, she said it was just a nice bonus.

“It feels great. That’s just the cherry on top. I love to fight. I love to be here, so that’s just the sprinkles on top, so that’s pretty cool,” she added.

“I’m not fighting to break records, it’s just happening. So if I break records then I’ll break records. I’m OK with that.”

She noted she’s not thinking about her next fight – whatever the UFC gives her, she’ll be ready to go.
