Mackenzie Dern Vs. Randa Markos Reportedly Added To September UFC Event
The strawweight division will be getting some exposure in September. According to MMA Fighting, Mackenzie Dern and Randa Markos will face one another on September 19. It appears that the date will be a PPV event, titled UFC 253.
Dern (8-1) announced the matchup via a post on social media. After giving birth in 2019, Dern went on her journey to become the first champion to be a mother. She competed a few months later, losing to Amanda Ribas in October 2019 via unanimous decision. The loss ended a seven-fight win streak where she was 2-0 in the UFC.
In one of the first fights back in Las Vegas as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Dern beat Hannah Cifers via kneebar, becoming the first woman in UFC history to win via leglock submission.
