Madison Square Garden Addresses Jake Paul-Hasim Rahman Ticket Sales
Madison Square Garden was set to host a boxing fixture between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr, before it was ultimately cancelled.
After speculation about the poor ticket gate in this upcoming fight, MSG has come out and revealed some new information.
The Paul and Rahman event at MSG was cancelled after the two athletes went back and forth on external weigh-ins and other weight-associated factors regarding the fight.
UFC President Dana White was in the spotlight in recent weeks after he claimed that the reason behind the cancellation of this fight had nothing to do with weight-related factors and more to do with the lack of money.
After White’s comments, MSG tried to clarify everything regarding the situation to MMA Fighting.
“To be clear, sales were strong heading into fight week — the cancellation was not based on ticket sales,” MSG said on Paul/Rahman. “This fight was projected to be in the top 10 of highest grossing boxing events at MSG in the past 15 years.”
“MVP has been great partners and we’re looking forward to working with them again soon,” MSG said.
Most recently, MSG hosted the Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor boxing event in April.
