Major Bellator Title Fight Rebooked For November 12

A big Bellator title fight has a new date.

The featherweight title clash between champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and Pedro Carvalho was supposed to take place back on March 13. The event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. MMAFighting.com is reporting that the fight is now being rescheduled for November 12.

The Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix is still in effect. The winner of “Pitbull” vs. Carvalho will defend the 145-pound gold against the winner of Emmanuel Sanchez vs. Daniel Weichel. The Sanchez vs. Weichel bout hasn’t officially been rescheduled.

There’s also A.J. McKee vs. former Bellator Bantamweight Champion Darrion Caldwell. Those two will be fighting for a spot in the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix finals. This bout also hasn’t been officially rebooked.

Freire is coming off an opening round victory over Juan Archuleta back on September 28, 2019. The victory extended “Pitbull’s” winning streak to five. As for Carvalho, he’s fresh off a second-round submission win over Sam Sicilia to advance in the tournament.
