Fight fans won’t have to wait long to see the rematch between Alexander Povetkin and Dillian Whyte.
Whyte said that a big announcement would be made soon regarding a second bout with Povetkin. In fact, he claimed the news would drop on Tuesday, September 15. The claim was correct as Matchroom Boxing has made it official.

As the announcement reveals, Povetkin vs. Whyte II will take place on November 21. Back on August 22, Povetkin pulled off an upset TKO victory over Whyte when he landed a flush uppercut in the fifth round. In the process, Povetkin became the interim WBC Heavyweight Champion. Whyte is hoping to get his revenge and reclaim his mandatory status for Tyson Fury’s gold.
Whyte’s only career losses have been to current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua and Povetkin. He was stopped in both outings. Whyte had plans to disrupt the big megafight fans have been hoping for between Joshua and Fury, which explains why Matchroom Boxing wanted to get this rematch done as quickly as possible.
The current plan is to have Fury fight Deontay Wilder a third time on December 19. The bout is likely to take place inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. If Whyte is successful in reclaiming his interim gold, he’ll likely be calling for the winner of Fury vs. Wilder III.
